Horror is the love of my life. I’ve been watching horror movies since I was 5 years old sneaking into the living room to watch Idle Hands on TNT. I created Velvet Slasher for horror fans like me, who know it really is the best genre in the world and that horror is personal. Through VS, I explore horror through the beauty of set design, the cultural moments that inspired the fear, and the creative people that make horror one of the most adaptable and creative spaces in the film industry.
Instead of only traditional movie reviews, some episodes explore film and the world behind it: history, visuals, sound design, and the creative choices that make some films iconic and others a little lackluster. Other episodes are all about the history of horror and fear. Whether you’re a British folk-horror fan, a J-horror devotee, or just discovering the beauty of horror, this is where horror lives as art.
